Federal recommendations for the new guidelines on reporting anomalies using a computer

National Steering Committee – October 2024
Here you will find the important decisions approved by the National Steering Committee during its meeting held from 11 to 13 October 2024, aimed at improving our Federation and the way our organisations operate. Federal recommendations in the event of abnormal ascents when diving with a computer
There is a need to update our procedures by replacing those based on the venerable MN90 tables in the event of abnormal ascents, given the almost exclusive use of dive computers. The algorithms used by these computers do not always include procedures that are consistent with the physiological response to such non-compliant situations. Read the article in the November–December issue of Subaqua. • In the event of an excessive ascent rate: An ascent exceeding a rate of 15 m/min between 30 m and the surface, over a minimum distance of 10 metres. Descend again within 3 minutes to at least half the original depth and remain there for 5 minutes. Then complete at least a 1-minute stop at 6 metres and a 5-minute stop at 3 metres, in addition to any stops required by your decompression method. If re-immersion is not possible, administer O₂ and evacuate. • In the event of multiple yo-yo ascents: In the event of multiple ascents, they should, whenever possible, not exceed the 6-metre threshold.

• In the event of an interruption of a mandatory decompression stop: Re-immersion possible: descend again within 3 minutes and resume the decompression stop, adding 3 minutes at 3 metres. Re-immersion not possible in the event of signs of a possible diving accident or more than 3 minutes of missed decompression stops: activate emergency procedures. Re-immersion not possible, with no signs of an accident, in the event of a maximum error of 3 minutes of missed decompression stops: a 3-hour observation period and no further diving for 24 hours. At the slightest sign that could indicate an accident, activate emergency procedures.
Change of legal protection provider A meeting was held with Lafont Insurance to discuss service improvements (a mandatory tender process is scheduled for early 2025).
For the new season, there has already been a change in our legal protection provider. In view of the significant increase in the terms offered by JURIDICA, the competitive tender process conducted by our broker led to the selection of CFDP (Compagnie Française Défense et Protection), effective 1 September 2024, under more favourable terms.
CFDP Insurance also offers an innovative and free legal information service for our organisations and OD, of which it is a pioneer: @DELIA, its latest service, powered by artificial intelligence.
With our best federal regards,
