MSDA is the national diving federation of Mauritius.
The Mauritian Scuba Diving Association (MSDA) regulates and manages diving activities in Mauritius and serves as the sole point of contact for local and international authorities.
The only guarantee of safety is the accreditation issued by MSDA, which must be prominently displayed at the diving center or facility offering diving services.
It ensures that diving in Mauritius and Rodrigues is practiced under optimal safety conditions through the excellence of its training programs.
Divers fill out a federation form valid for 2 months.
Residents can obtain an annual license upon presentation of a medical certificate indicating no contraindications to scuba diving.
A medical certificate is also recommended for divers wishing to undergo training. It is mandatory for divers at level 2 and for minors.
The Environment
In summer, from November to April, water temperatures range between 26 and 29°C; a 3mm shorty is sufficient.
In winter, from May to October, when water temperatures range between 23 and 25°C, a 5mm full wetsuit is recommended. Humpback whales can be observed during their migration.
Visibility can reach up to 70 meters.
The Benefits
It can be practiced all year round in pleasant conditions. You are welcomed in small-scale structures.
The sites are diverse: coral reefs, stingrays, sharks, moray eels, drop-offs, drift dives in currents, wrecks.
About twenty old or modern boats will allow you to take beautiful photos or sail back in the time of the corsairs.
