“Mauritius – Rodrigues, islands for sharing”

The Mauritian Scuba Diving Association (MSDA) in partnership with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) organized a showing of the film by René Heuzey in Port Louis on 17/12/2012. Following the official reception on the Terrace of the Labourdonnais Hotel, an audience of more than 200 gathered the Star Cinema in the Caudan centre to experience together some exceptional underwater images and participate in a debate on the fragility of Mauritius’ underwater world.

“Passionate lovers of Mauritius’ underwater world in front of the camera”.  Adeline Forget.

(…)  Resolutely avoiding all postcard images, René Heuzey set out to “allow Mauritians and Rodriguans who work to protect their marine and submarine environment to speak freely”. (…) Lovers of dolphins, morays, whales or giant tortoises, they endeavour, each in his or her own way, to make an active contribution to the preservation of the ecological balance of Mauritius and Rodrigues. (…) It is worth noting that the film “Mauritius – Rodrigues; islands for sharing”, with a projection time of 55 minutes, has recently been awarded the Nausicaà environment prize at the 39th World Festival of Underwater Pictures in Marseille, France. Filmmaker René Heuzey is the founder of LABEL BLEU PRODUCTION, a production and underwater image company. Backed by the experience of over 2,000 shoots in every sea on the planet, he works both on documentaries and journalism, on fiction and live broadcasts. He has already presented the underwater world of Mauritius with the production of the TV series of Francis Leguen “Carnet de plongées”. He is currently in Mauritius to make a film on the sperm whale.( …)
